CME releases its report on the
State of Advanced Manufacturing in Canada:
A Canadian Perspective in partnership with Industry Canada and McMaster University, with several members of the Canadian Manufacturing Coalition participating in a webinar session prior to the report being officially made public.
The report contains 22 pages of data specific to firms in your sector looking at R&D and production activities outside Canada, global competition, indirect exports, investment in production facilities in Canada and outside the country, investment in R&D facilities in Canada, outsourcing of production and R&D, introduction of innovation, types of process innovation introduced, impact of process innovation and use of advanced technologies.

Recommendations to the Canada/U.S. Economic Integration and Competitiveness Initiative
The Canadian Manufacturing Coalition continues to meet regularly with senior government officials to discuss economic competitiveness. CMA is anticipating that a detailed plan will be released by the governments at the end of the summer for implementation over a multi-year period. From a Canadian perspective, the government has indicated they want a broad agreement that eliminates existing barriers and creates processes to eliminate the emergence of regulatory differences in the future. CFPA is a member of the CMA.

June 2011 marked the 50th anniversary of Bosch Rexroth Canada Corporation. Originally founded in the Welland area in June 1961 as Basic Structure Steel Fabricators LTD., Bosch Rexroth Canada has since grown to employ more than 300 associates in 9 locations across Canada.

Gir Del Announces Expansion
Gir Del Hydraulic services, located in Edmonton, has started the construction process to expand their building by another 5,800 sq. ft.
When completed in September - Gir Del Hydraulics will be the largest full service Mobile Hydraulic Service Facility in Western Canada, with a total of 38,500 sq. ft. and a staff of 50 employees.

Rexroth Bosch Group Announces Organizational Changes
Boyd de Waard, currently DCCA/GM, has asked to step down from his current position. After 35 years with Rexroth in Canada, he will assume a position with DC/SAC as Regional Manager for the Americas.
Tom Light will succeed Boyd as DCCA/GM. Tom joined the company in March 1997 in the Quality Management role. Since then he has successfully lead other positions of responsibility and is currently DCCA/SLH in charge of the Hydraulics Business Unit.
John Mataya will become Financial Controller (DCCA/FC) reporting to Steve Roberts.
Ed Cloutier, P.Eng., MBA, will become National Sales &
Marketing Manager, reporting to Tom Light.

Doug Newton Joins Wainbee
Doug Newton has joined Wainbee Limited in the position of Corporate Sales , Marketing and Quality Manager. Doug is actually returning to Wainbee after an extended absence – he worked at Wainbee from 1985 to 1990. Doug will be replacing John Bachmann who is retiring on April 30th after 21 years at Wainbee. Doug will be staying on the CFPA Board as Wainbee’s representative.
