First Edmonton Skills Challenge a Big Success
The First Annual Strathcona Tech Skills Challenge sponsored by the Canadian Fluid Power Association (CFPA) was a big hit. Held at Strathcona High School in Edmonton on March 23, the Challenge attracted 16 teams totalling 70 students and was intended to make the high school students attending more aware of technology career options and also to promote new fluid power courses in the high school curriculum that are being piloted at Strathcona as a cooperative venture between the Edmonton Public School Board and the CFPA.
Western Chapter AGM Plots Ambitious Course
Fluid Power training modules, a summer student employment program and a Fluid Power Hall of Fame were just some of the projects launched at the Western Chapter General Meeting held in Edmonton on March 29th.
Wainbee buys Del-Tech
Del-Tech Automation of Prince George, B.C. has been acquired by Wainbee Limited. As a result of this acquisition, Wainbee, which is headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, now has 14 locations coast-to-coast servicing customers from Vancouver to Halifax.
“The purchase of Del-Tech Automation is an important step towards strengthening our presence in the British Columbia and Alberta industrial and forestry markets”, says Wainbee President Ron Rodger.
Founded in 1957, Wainbee Limited is a 100-percent Canadian, employee-owned company that has been located in Western Canada since the early 1970’s. Its Western Regional office is in Richmond, B.C., with additional Western offices in Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
HYDRAULIC TOOL REPAIRS
Hydraulic Tool Repairs, Cummins Hydraulics of Newmarket, Ontario is excited to announce the addition the Thomas and Betts line of hydraulic crimping tools to their hydraulic tool repair program.

Mike Marthold of Wainbee Limited elected as President and Chair of FPDA
Mike Marthold of Wainbee Limited (Richmond, BC) has been elected President and Chairman of the Board of the Fluid Power Distributor Association (FPDA) located in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Mike is the first Canadian President the organization has elected. The FPDA is a 30 year old distributor organization focusing on enhancing and developing distributors of Fluid Power and Motion and Control Technologies. The group works closely with other distributor and manufacturer organizations in Canada and the United States promoting industrial distribution initiatives.
